When you are a baby, your skin is perfect. It is soft, firm and glows with health. But as you mature, usually sometimes in your 30s, your skin begins to lose its ability to stay healthy. Collagen breaks down. The skin loses its elasticity. Cell turnover and the flow of moisture from deep within begins to slow. The Solution
The goal of the Obagi Nu-Derm system is to create soft, radiant – looking skin, to increase skin tolerance to environmental assault and to restore normal skin functions. The Nu-Derm system corrects surface discoloration and blemishes. Importantly, it also penetrates into the skin to stimulate cell renewal, improve circulation and help rebuild collagen. The normal barrier function of the skin is restored, making the skin less sensitive and better able to hydrate properly.
Conscientious use of the Nu-Derm system as prescribed by your physician helps repair prior skin damage. You will notice that your skin is smoother and clearer, with a healthy, even glow. Your skin is supple, firm and naturally hydrated. Most importantly, your skin is healthier and more resilient.
The phases of Restoration
1.) Reaction phase: Out with the Old (first 6 weeks)
Common initial reactions are: dryness, itching, exfoliation, redness, burning wrinkles may look worse. These reactions are a sign that the skin restoration is in process. The Nu-Derm system is accelerating the cell turnover to actually alter the thickness of the rough top layer of the skin. This phase is especially important for sensitive skin because, ultimately, it will make it less sensitive and more tolerant to environmental aggression.
2.) Tolerance phase: In with the new (end 6 weeks)
Reaction starts to subside – As new skin cells reach the surface, skin improvement becomes subside.
3.) Corrected phase: Healthy Glow (last 6 weeks)
Reaction almost disappear, skin tolerance is now complete. The skin is healthier, with surface problems corrected.
Activation/Maintenance
At the end of the Restoration process, patients are retain these improvements by following the Activation/Maintenance program. In the Maintenance phase some of the products are used twice a week while others are continued as before. Once a year, activation is a chemical by using the full program for 6 to 12 weeks.
Complications
Some patients are allergic to hydroquinone which is one of the achieve ingredients.
