ArteFill, a permanent filler, is still FDA-approved but because Artes Medical filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, the product is no longer being made.

 

The porcine (pig) based collagen product from Israel, EVOLENCE, will no longer be available. Johnson and Johnson announced on 11-4-09 that they will no longer sell the product because of poor sales. Evolence never caught on because of issues with inflammatory nodules.

 

A technique called the facial thread lift, recently has lost the approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The surgery, that involves insertion of barbed threads under the skin in order to tighten lax tissue, has been referred to as cutting-edge procedure with no cutting edges. It has been considered as an easier and less invasive way to rid the face and neck of undesirable wrinkles.
However, a study of patients who underwent the surgery, has showed that there was only short-term improvement in their appearance, with many of them experiencing serious problems with it, including indentations, bunching, dimpling, visible knots, broken threads and facial asymmetry.

 

Tired eyes from loose, droopy upper lid skin can be helped somewhat with Botox injection under the eyebrows to lift the brow. Dark circles under the eyes can be improved with Juvederm or Radiesse injection in the tear troughs. Surgical results are much better however if you can afford the downtime and surgery is less expensive in the long run.
